Hot Chelle Rae is a pop rock band formed in Nashville,
Tennessee, in 2005. The band consists of Ryan Follesé (lead vocals,
rhythm guitar), Nash Overstreet (lead guitar, backing vocals), Ian Keaggy (bass guitar, backing
vocals), and Jamie Follese (drums). Their debut album, Lovesick Electric,
was released on October 27, 2009.[2] They gained widespread attention
for their 2011 double platinum single, "Tonight Tonight".
History
Hot Chelle Rae began in 2005, with a meeting between
singer-songwriter Ryan (RK) Follese and guitarist Nash Overstreet. The band
began unsigned with the name Miracle
Drug. The band was later named Hot
Chelle Rae, after a MySpace
stalker who provided the band with a
rather entertaining era of online activity until her false identity was
discovered and brought to light Overstreet
is the son of country music
singer-songwriter
Paul Overstreet and the brother of
actor Chord Overstreet.
The Follesés are the sons of country
songwriter Keith Follesé
and Keaggy is the son of Phil Keaggy.
In the summer of 2007, the band
opened a sold out concert for rapper Lil Jon. Later on that year, they played a
string of venues at South by Southwest,
a music festival in Austin, Texas, and then went on tour with the band Vedera. They recently opened for Taylor Swift in her World
Tour, 'Speak Now'.
They were signed to Jive Records in
October 2008, and then began work on their first album, Lovesick Electric.
2011–present: Whatever
Hot Chelle Rae released the single
"Tonight Tonight" which peaked at #7 on the Billboard
Hot 100 in July 2011. Their next single, "I Like It Like That", premiered on September 13, 2011.
Their "Whatever" album was
announced on the band's website on October 4, 2011, and was released on
November 29, 2011.
On December 31, 2011, the band
performed on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest and played
their two hits, "Tonight Tonight"
and "I Like It Like That".
On January 29, 2012, the band played at the nationally televised 2012 Pro Bowl pregame ceremonies at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii and sang, "I Like It Like That" and
"Tonight Tonight". The
group also performed "I Like It Like
That" on the Hall of Game Awards
on February 20, 2012.
In March, 2012, the band rejoined
with Taylor Swift's to support the Australia
and New Zealand legs of her "Speak Now"
Tour.
Summer of 2012, the band will be on
tour with Demi Lovato.
